NSLU2-Linux

I am a hack ;-) Would like to be a proper hacker but all I can do is follow instructions (and sometimes not too well...)

I have an unslung NSLU2, which I currently use for streaming audio and video to a DSM-320. I use the Twonkyvision, http://www.twonkyvision.de, media server, which is nice but I have not yet been able to stream any avi or mpeg4/xvid/divx, only mpeg1 or mpeg2 so far. Mp3 works great.

I have recently built the latest HEAD versions of Unslung and Openslug, will see what I can do with those...

Plans for the slug (in no particular order):

  • setting up Openslug (I have tried 2.7beta but for some reason it never starts up completely - maybe it needs more entropy from the network, but my attempts at bombarding the slug with traffic has so far not been enough)
  • setting up Freeradius to provide 802.1x authentication
  • setting up a small personal web site
  • Mail server perhaps?
  • Use alternative media server packages, like Mediatomb http://mediatomb.sf.net(approve sites)
